Was there more in the decision to abandon the wind turbine on Waterside Farm Playing Fields than first thought?
Councillor Stanley announced at Cabinet that the concrete base supporting the turbine was going to cost money, money that either was not allowed for, or unexpectedly was too expensive, even though the size of slab was included within the application and design paperwork.
This is bad news for the potential utility savings for the Sports Centre, but excellent news for the Green Belt land which will not have the proposed blot on the landscape.
However another possibility arises.
Does Castle Point Borough Council own the land?
Persimmon Homes proposer of the plans to concrete over the Dutch Village Fields, with over 300 houses, indicate on their “Vermuydengate” website that in fact they may be the owners of the site that our Council wished to erect the wind turbine!
In contrast, within the Application for the turbine, it clearly states that Castle Point Council are the owners of the land.
Somebody has slipped up.
