Tonight at 7.00pm the Canvey Island Town Council will discuss the proposal to develop Green Belt land directly North of Holland Avenue.
In an inspired piece of timing the Castle Point Council planning portal displays this notice:-
Please be advised of a Public Access software upgrade taking place on 7th to 9th March 2016. During this time planning applications will not be available to view on the Council’s website.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Let us hope the Canvey Town Council planning committee were prepared and have either read up on the proposal as part of their advance homework, or have hard copies of the Developer’s proposal and supporting submission available for the meeting’s members!
This follows my enquiry as to why only those residents abutting the site have been served notice.
Surely those residents on the Dutch Village Estate, responsible for the unmade and unadopted roads that the development’s Construction Vehicles and future residents would need to use, deserved personal notice of the development proposal.
An officer has responded:-
“The Press Notice should appear on the 11th March 2016, whilst I intend to post Site Notices next week.”
Not Good Enough. This eats into the time allowed to object to Castle Point Council and also the Canvey Town Council!
